Joyce Goodman is Dean/Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Faculty of Education, Health and Social Care at the University of Winchester. Professor Goodman has published widely on women and education. Her most recent books include Women and Education: Major Themes in Education (Routledge, 2011, 4 volumes), with Jane Martin and Girls’ Secondary Education in the Western World (Palgrave, 2010), with James Albisetti and Rebecca Rogers and Social Change in the History of British Education (Routledge, 2008), with Gary McCulloch and William Richardson. Her current research focuses on internationalism and empire in girls’ schooling and in the work of women in and for education. She is former editor of History of Education, past president of the History of Education Society UK and former secretary of the International Standing Conference for the History of Education. She was awarded an MBE for services to higher education in 2011.
